Biography
Campbell Bruce, Artist. Born 1927 on the island of St Helena.
Moved to England 1936. Studied at Croydon College of Art and the Royal College of Art. A painter and also known as a curator of contemporary Irish Art. Campbell taught Fine Art at various UK colleges, including Croydon and North Staffordshire College of Art. He was made head of painting at Canterbury college of Art and Design. In 1974 He became Professor of Fine Art at National College of Art Dublin, and held the posts of President of Irish Contemporary Art Society, President of AICA, Ireland, and International Vice President of AICA. He was made an Honorary Member of Royal Hibernian Academy. Campbell has exhibited widely and much of his work is in private and public collections. He died in Dublin, Ireland 2014, aged 86.
